Itinerary: ST5

Day 1 Arrive DELHI & drive to Nalagarh
Met on arrival in Delhi and drive (300kms/6-7hrs) straight to Nalagarh at the foothills. On arrival transfer to hotel Fort Nalagarh. Remaining day at leisure.

Day 2 Nalagarh/Manali
Morning drive (260kms – 8-9 hrs) to Manali (2050m) & on arrival transfer to hotel Ram Regency.

Day 3 Manali
Day free to explore the town.

Day 4 Manali/Jispa
Morning drive (145kms/6-7hrs) to Jispa (3300m). On arrival check into hotel Ibex.

Day 5 Jispa/Petseau
Late morning drive (25kms/1½ - 2 hrs) to Petseau (3850m). Camp on arrival. Remaining day to walk higher on the slopes to get acclimatized.

Day 6 Petseau/Sarchu/road head
Morning drive (80kms/4hrs) to Brandi Nala (4300m) and start trek to Tak along the river Tserap chu. Camp on arrival (3880m).

Day 7 Cross Morangla / Lun
Leave the river, turn right and climb gently to the Morangla (5270m). Go down through a beautiful plateau to Lun village (4100m). Camp on arrival.

Day 8 Lun / Lungmo Che
Continue north, passing through the nomads (called Khampas) camp and a small village of Sangtha. From here turn left to summer village of Lungmo che. Camp on arrival (4550m).

Day 9 Lungmo che / Yar la / Dat
Easy ascend to Yarla (4950m) is followed by an equally easy and short descend to the foot. Continue the trek to Dat passing through the village of Dango. Camp on arrival (4200m).

Day 10 Dat/Sorra
Walk along the Chang Chu valley crossing a few side streams. Later turn right leaving the valley, through the wonderful woody gorges to arrive at Sorra (4200m), a summur village.

Day 11 Sorra/Zulung Karpo la / Langtang
Climb a small pass and continue on its ridge to reach the top of Zalung Karpo La (5100m). Go down, cross a large stream to reach the broad valley of Langtang Chu (4300m).

Day 12 Langtang/Nimaling
Climb a very steep trail to Konka Wangpo la (5090m) and go down to the north-west slopes of Kang Yatse peak. Traverse to the North to the vast meadows of Nimaling (4700m). Camp on arrival on the bank of the river, overlooking the north face of Kang Yatse.

Day 13 Reserve / rest day
A reserve day against bad weather.

Day 14 Nimaling/Kongmaru la/Sumdo
Start with the gentle ascend to Kongmarula (5150m) followed by a steep descend through the narrow gorge to the broad valley of Sumdo (3585m).

Day 15 Sumdo/Martselang/ Leh
An easy trek on the jeepable road to Martselang and from here, drive (40kms/2hrs) to Leh.

Day 16 Leh
Full day excursion to Shey, Thiksay & Hemis monasteries.

Day 17 Leh
Morning half day city tour covering Shanti Stupa, Sankar Gompa & Leh Palace. Afternoon at leisure.

Day 18 Leh/Delhi
Early morning transfer to airport to connect flight (9W610 dep.0735hrs /arr.0850hrs). Met on arrival and transfer to hotel. Late night transfer to airport to connect homewards flight.

Day 19 Delhi Departure
Early morning board the flight.

a) All Heights, distance & journey time is approximate.
b) Flight schedule is presently prevailing & subject to change.

Trip Cost Includes:

  • Accommodation on twin sharing for a total of 18 nights on full board (AP) fixed menu basis, except in Delhi on bed & breakfast (CP); based on hotels envisaged below.
  • All transportation - from arrival/departure transfers from airport to hotel & vice-versa, sightseeing, excursions; by an aircondition car in Delhi & on drive between Delhi to Nalagarh (foothills) and by a non aircondition jeep or mini bus from Martselang to Leh & in Leh.
  • Sightseeing and excursion in Leh with an English speaking local guide and entrances to the places of interest.
  • All trekking/camping arrangements, i.e. two-men dome tent with carry-mat, kitchen cum mess tent, camping stools & table, crockery cutlery, kitchen utensils, stove, fuel, food, a cook, a helper and ponies to carry all camping gear & provisions.
  • Personal baggage allowance of 15kg. per pax on the trek.
  • All presently applicable taxes like luxury tax on room, VAT on meals, and 3.9% Govt. Service Tax (GST) on Delhi to Jispa portion of the package price (in Ladakh it is not applicable as-on-date).
    Sherpa Travel, Inc. or its associates to accompany on the trek to ensure smooth arrangements.

Trip Costs Excludes:

  • Any airfare, airport tax, items of personal nature such as table drinks, mineral water bottles, laundry, telecom charges, camera/video camera fee, meals not specified above, sleeping bag & ‘Thermarest – self inflatory’ mattress, towel & toiletries, personal travel insurance, tips etc.
  • Any additional expenses to be incurred for the reasons beyond our control, like bad weather, road blocks, landslide, vehicle breakdown, flight delay/cancellation, medical/accidental/emergency evacuation etc.
  • Any meals or hotel accommodation in lieu of trekking/camping days in case the trek terminates early for any reason.
  • Any additional levies to be imposed by Govt of India or State Govt.
