We begin our journey with a scenic drive on the Kathmandu-Lhasa Arniko highway to the ancient trading town of Dolkha. We begin at one of the most beautiful parts of Nepal. We trek through the Rolwaling valley, known as one of the seven hidden valleys in the Nepal Himalaya. Rolwaling is the East -West valley below Mount Gauri Shanker (7,145m) just south of Tibetan border. We begin in the lowlands with diverse ethnic villages, and as we climb in altitude we walk through beautiful Sherpa villages. Beding and Na are the last Sherpa villages of this valley, where more than twenty Sherpa climbers have reached the summit of Mt. Everest and other 8000m peaks. We cross over the Tashi Lapcha pass (5755m) and visit Thame, Apa Sherpa’s hometown, and enter the Khumbu valley, the land of the Sherpas which lies at the foot of Everest. Great views of Mount Gauri Shanker, Mount Dorje Lhakpa and Mount Tashi Lapcha are along the trail. This trek also offers a great opportunity for short climbs of peaks like Ramdong Go (5930m) and Parchermo (6187m). This trek is technical and strenuous, so technical climbing experience and good mountaineering gear are essential, as well as be physically fit with ability to walk 5-8 miles on uneven terrain.
