Patle Village Development Committee area in northern Okhaldunga District has about ten thousand people without a hospital or trained nurses or doctors to provide much needed health services.
A one week medical mission trip can help many villagers in need of primary medical care and diagnosis if additional and costly treatments need to seek in the capital, Kathmandu.
Sherpa Travel led a medical mission scouting trip to Patle Village Development Committee area in fall 2012 with doctors from Mammoth Lakes in California. Until this date we have not been able to organize a medical mission trip to the above area. We would like to welcome doctors and nurses, who are interested in participating in a medical mission trip to Phapre Village in the near future.
Nepal Medical Council Permits for the Medical Mission Trip:
Sherpa Travel will work as a liaison between doctors or participating organizations and the Nepal Medical Council to obtain permits for the doctors and nurses for the period of the medical mission trip.
Participating doctors and organizations have to fund their own way to and from Nepal for all medical equipment, air tickets, lodging and food. Participating doctors and nurses are required to pay for the Nepal Medical Council permits.
Medicine for the Medical Mission Trip:
Most of the medicine must be purchased in Nepal for the medical mission as this is the requirement. Foreign doctors and organizations can bring limited amount of medical supplies and medicine.
Participation of Nepali Doctors and Nurses:
We can arrange participation of some Nepali health care professionals to help the visiting doctors and nurses during the medical mission trip. This requires advance arrangement.
Best Time for Medical Mission Trip:
Fall to winter season is the best time as farmers have time to rest from recovery of any treatment.
Sherpa Travel will organize the medical mission trip with all logistics in Nepal at a very reasonable cost. However, Sherpa Travel will not be funding or fund raising for the medical mission trip.
The time contribution to organize the medical mission trip will be the contribution of Sherpa Travel and its staff.
Interested health care professionals and organizations are welcome to inquire for the above medical mission trip questions.
Namaste!
