Langtang Region located within the Langtang National Park is a very attractive trekking destination which is surrounded by spectacular views of the Himalayas, beautiful forest covered valleys and various ethnic settlements. The trail gains elevation as you make your way along the Langtang Khola, first through forests of oak, rhododendron and then bamboo forests on the higher reaches of the trail. Enlivening glimpses of mount Langtang Lirung (7200m) appear through the trees along the way. Traveling through Langtang (3450m), you will reach the Langtang valley and village of Kyanjing Gompa (3800m), where you will experience the spiritual lifestyle of dedicated Buddhist monks who perform their rituals in a beautiful Monastery dating back to 1300 A.D. A short hike will lead you to a magnificent glacial moraine (4300m) which can be climbed and offers more spectacular view of Langtang Lirung and the foot of one of its major glaciers. Another viewpoint on this trek is Chandan Bari (2800m) from where you can enjoy magnificent views of the towering snowcapped Ganesh Himal (7600m) and Langtang II (7227m) peaks. Langtang National Park is Red Panda habitat area. Thus, you might be able to spot the Red Pandas in the bamboo-Oak groves and on the open space on occasions.

We continue our trek to Gosainkunda (lake), a complex group of 15 lakes and ponds situated within Langtang National Park, treeless region with shrub land interspersed by rocky slopes and alpine pasture at 4054m to 4620m altitude that provide water for the Trishuli tributary of the Narayani River system.

Gosainkunda is considered sacred pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists. It is also Ramsar site for wetland floras and faunas. After Gosainkunda, we will trek through Rhododendron, Fer, Pine, Oak and mixed temperate deciduous forests in the lower foothills. We’ll then pass through beautifully terraced fields, villages and Buddhist monasteries en-route to Melamchi, where our trek ends and travel back to Kathmandu by vehicle.
