Dhaulagiri mountain range, situated west of the Annapurna massif and separated by Kali Gandaki River gorge, consists of six peaks ranging from 7268 meters to 8167 meters, the tallest being Dhaulagiri one, the seventh highest summit in the world. Beautiful peaks in the west are Churen Himal and Gurja Himal, Sita Chuchura in the northwest quite close to the base camp and Tukuche peak in the northeast among the taller peaks around Dhaulagiri; and other impressive peaks complement the attraction of this splendid mountain range. The challenging trails between the Dhaulagiri peaks and its wilderness area is less visited by tourists because of the difficulty as well as nonexistent tourism infrastructure. Therefore, the only means of trekking in this area is by fully organized camping trip with food supplies and supporting crew. This challenging trek is for the adventurous people wishing to circle the Dhaulagiri I and ascend Dhampus Peak.

We trek along the scenic Myagdi River passing through sparingly inhabited villages not yet influenced by the modern development. Then, in the lower valley of Dhaulagiri, we’ll trek through forested wilderness area that are absent of human settlement, and occasionally passing through meadows and seasonal pastureland. Then we arrive at the Italian base camp, where we spend two nights including a rest day for acclimatization. After a full day of rest, we will trek between the Dhaulagiri massif walls to its base camp, Dhampus Pass and to Marpha, a famous apple farming village, in the upper Kali Gandaki River gorge. From here, we will trek following the river until Tatopani and then climb up to Ghorepani. Early the next morning, we take a short pre-dawn hike to Poon Hill viewpoint at 10,529ft to catch the magical moments of sunrise.

From here, we see the majestic peaks such as Annapurna I (8,167m), Annapurna-II-IV, Annapurna Fang, Machhapupuchhare, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Nilgiri, the world’s deepest Kali Gandaki River gorge, Mount Dhaulagiri (8,091m), Tukuche Peak, Lamjung Himal and Manaslu Himalayan range.

Then we will return to our hotel or camp for breakfast. We will then trek through vast rhododendron forests following the Annapurna Sanctuary trail to Ghandruk, famous Gurung village, with spectacular views of the Annapurnas until we reach Pokhara from where we will take a flight to Kathmandu.
